Ingredients
fat free butter spray
(We used Pam Buttery Spray.)
2 cups steel cut oats (Not rolled or instant oats.)
8 cups water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup sugar free syrup
(We used Cary's Sugar Free Syrup.)
3/4 cup Splenda
(We used the box that measures cup for cup like sugar.)
1/2 cup raisins
(We used Golden Raisins.)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Optional
2 cups fat free half & half
2. Pour in and mix together all the ingredients EXCEPT fat free half & half. Cover the pot, turn it on low and in 8 hours your oatmeal will be ready. If you're only cooking for 5-6 hours, reduce the water to 7 cups.
3. When the oatmeal is finished, you can serve it as is. You can also top each bowl with 1/4 cup fat free half & half. It's a hot and filling breakfast without the morning hassle. Just remember to put the leftover oatmeal in freezer safe containers and turn the crockpot off.
Yield: 8 Servings - Approximately 1 Cup Per Serving
Freeze each serving (without the half & half) for easy re-heating later.
To thaw, cover, add 1 tablespoon water and microwave each serving of oatmeal on high for approximately 2 - 4 minutes.
Stir together and then add optional half & half if you want it.
