Ingredients

3 large egg whites

1 large whole egg

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

3 Tbsp. Splenda or stevia

1 Tbsp. cocoa powder
(We used Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder.)

4 slices of light whole wheat bread
(We used Nature's Own Wheat with 40 calories per slice.)

fat free butter cooking spray

1/4 cup sugar free syrup
(We used Cary's Sugar Free Syrup.)

1 Tbsp. Hershey's Semi-Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips

This recipe is higher in sodium. If you're on a low sodium diet, you should consider another option.

1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

2. In a bowl, whip together the egg whites, whole egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together the Splenda or stevia and cocoa powder. Then whisk the Splenda or stevia and cocoa powder mixture into the eggs until thoroughly combined.

3. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Dip both sides of the bread into the egg mixture.

4. Spray the pan with fat-free cooking spray and cook each side of the french toast, about 3-4 minutes per side. Once it's browned, remove from the pan, pour on the sugar free syrup and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.

This is a Freezer Friendly Recipe!

Freeze the french toast in freezer safe containers for easy re-heating later.

DO NOT add the chocolate chips or syrup if you are freezing, put those on AFTER you have re-heated the french toast and are about to serve it.

Re-heat for 1-2 minutes in microwave on high.
