1 1/4 lbs. extra lean ground turkey

1 box (14 oz.) whole wheat pasta (rotini)
(We used Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Rotini.)

1 jar (26 oz.) pasta sauce
(We used Classico Tomato & Basil.)

6 slices fat free American cheese

SPECIAL NOTES: If you're going to freeze the meals for later, don't add the cheese until after you've re-heated the pasta and you're ready to eat it. To reduce the sodium, choose low sodium pasta sauce and/or use a low sodium cheese like "Smart Beat."

1. Start a pot with five quarts of water boiling for the pasta. Do NOT add salt or oil. Cook pasta for approximately 12 to 14 minutes (per package instructions). Then drain and put pasta aside.

2. While pasta is cooking, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and spray it with fat free olive oil. Add the ground turkey and cook until brown, about 10 minutes.

3. As you're cooking the ground turkey, pour the jar of pasta sauce in a microwave safe dish and heat for 3 minutes on high.

4. Divide the pasta evenly between 6 servings. Then divide the ground turkey into 6 servings and place on top of the pasta. Next divide the pasta sauce into 6 servings and pour over each dish. Finally place a single slice of American cheese on top of each plate.

Yield: 6 Servings

This is a Freezer Friendly Recipe!

You can freeze individual portions for easy re-heating later. Be sure to leave the cheese OFF if you plan to freeze them.

Make sure to freeze them in freezer safe containers.

Microwave for approximately 3-5 minutes, keeping the container open just a little to allow steam to escape. Once it's hot, put the slice of American cheese on the top before you eat.
