Ingredients
2 Tbsp. fat free cream cheese
2 Tbsp. sugar free orange marmalade - or other sugar free jam
(We used Smucker's Sugar Free Orange Marmalade.)
2 slices 100% whole wheat bread
1 large whole egg
1 large egg white
1 tsp. fat free milk
buttery cooking spray
OPTIONAL
sugar free syrup
French toast with a sweet punch that tastes like dessert. Bring a sandwich along and eat it on the go when you're in a hurry.
1. Spread the cream cheese over one of the slices of whole wheat bread and the marmalade over the other slice. Put the two pieces together.
2. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. While the pan is heating up, whisk together the eggs and milk in a shallow bowl. Then dip both sides of the sandwich in the egg mixture, letting it soak up.
3. Once the pan is hot, lightly coat with the buttery cooking spray and put the dipped bread in the pan. Cook until toasted for 1.5 to 3 minutes per side. Each side is finished when bread turns a golden brown. I like to cook up the remaining egg mixture as well and serve as scrambled eggs on the side.
4. Cut sandwich and serve with sugar free syrup if you want. You can make more and freeze them for easy re-heating later.
Yield: 1 Serving
You can freeze individual portions for easy re-heating later.
Microwave for approximately 1-2 minutes. Keep the container open a little to allow steam to escape.
