Ingredients
8 ounces (about 1 1/2 cups) 96% fat free ham, diced
(We used an 8 oz. package of Smithfield 96% Fat Free Diced Ham.)
3 Tbsp. light mayonnaise
2 Tsp. dijon mustard
5 drops hot pepper sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. celery salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper, ground
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 pinch caraway seeds, or to taste
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
12 slices whole wheat bread
(We used Dave's Killer Bread 70 Calories per slice.)
A great use for that leftover ham from the holidays. You can also use the spread on crackers for a party treat.
1. Mix the first 10 ingredients, ham, mayonnaise, mustard, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, black pepper, paprika and caraway seeds in a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
2. Use an immersion blender or put the mixture into a food processor and puree the ingredients to your desired texture.
3. Stir in the onion and celery. Chill before serving.
4. Put 1/4 cup of the mixture on a slice of bread and top with a second slice.
Yield: 6 Servings, 1/4 cup of spread per serving
Freeze individual servings of the spread in freezer safe container. When you want to reheat, put it in the microwave and thaw on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes.
Spread on toasted bread and serve.
